Based in Rusholme, Manchester, The Robert Darbishire Practice is a large GP surgery offering NHS primary care services.
The practice was established in 1954 as part of The University of Manchester. In 2011, we became independent, but we still provide the same high quality care and maintain links with the University. We offer our service to all local people, including students.
We’re really pleased to tell you that The Robert Darbishire Practice along with The Whitswood Practice and New Bank Health Centre – our sister practices – are the first doctors’ surgeries in the country to be awarded The Daisy Mark. This is in recognition of the excellent care we provide our patients and the way we treat our staff. You can find out more about this award at www.daisymark.co.uk.

Part of the NHS Family
Like other surgeries, we are part of the NHS family, providing NHS primary care services to NHS patients under contract to NHS England. We are in the area of Central Manchester Clinical Commissioning Group which oversees health services in this area. We work with these organisations to ensure that the services we offer are of a high standard.
A Training Practice
We are an accredited training practice, educating the healthcare professionals of the future. To find out more about how this might affect you, please view our Training Practice page.
Listening to our Patients
We very much value the views of our patients, you can complete our online Friends and Family Test, this helps us to find out what our patients think of our service. We also carry out occasional other surveys on specific issues. If you are asked to complete a form we hope you will take the time to share your honest opinions with us, as this will help us to learn about what we can do better. We also encourage our patients to submit comments and ideas for improvements and we have a suggestion box in the waiting room.
